Shurwin Beckford is an award-winning Executive Producer, Showrunner, and Director with a track record across premium documentary, factual, and entertainment television. He began his career at MTV UK, where he created The Lick with Trevor Nelson and went on to serve as Head of MTV Base for over five years. He later co- founded Hey Buddy Films, producing high-impact factual content for Channel 4, BBC Three, and ITV, including the first-ever MTV Africa Awards and two consecutive MOBO Awards. 

Since 2016, Shurwin has operated independently, delivering high-profile projects for the BBC, Netflix, Sky Arts, BET, YouTube, and NBC/Peacock. His work includes the BAFTA-nominated Netflix series They’ve Gotta Have Us, BBC Two’s critically acclaimed The Real Michael Jackson, Channel 4’s first docu-reality series Highlife, the Broadcast Award–nominated Living Lyrics, and the International Emmy–nominated The Mandela Project.
